Hello Brian, please introduce yourself
Hello, I am an artist based in London working from Make Space Studios near Waterloo. I studied fine arts painting and architecture at university and after a career in architecture and design I became a full time artist about 4 years ago.
What are your favorite materials to work with?
I have been working almost exclusively with collage for the past few years and I really enjoy working with paper and other similar materials. I enjoy the layering process of collage as well as the elimination and addtion of materials as the work gets made. The physical process of cutting and glueing, as well as working with finishes and varnishes, is exciting for me. I get great satisfaction in creating my works and also working on comissions with clients.
How would you describe your style?
My style is quite architectural and graphic. It relies on the use of colour theory to accentuate the layers and textures in my works. I also like to work in series so I can take an idea and explore it with the creation of similar works that are all based on the same theme.
What are your goals for the future, Brian?
My goal is to continue my practice, working with clients and making comissions as well as selling from various websites. I enjoy doing exhibitions and art fairs and hope to continue these once the world can get back to normal after Covid.
Do you have a life concept?
I want to bring a smile to those who view and purchase my work and this, I think, is the best way to share myself and my view of the world.
Would you like to tell something more?
Thanks so much Hardedger for giving me the opportunity to share these thoughts and please have a look at my work. I hope you enjoy it.
Brian Reinker ★ Artist resume
My work is inspired by the abstraction of landscapes and urban environments. I use colour theory and Op Art themes to create the layered and textured pieces, enjoying the challenge creating collage: the process is unforgiving as once it is glued down it’s hard to change. My materials are colourfast paper, foil and vinyl that are glued on panels and I have just started experimenting with cold wax and varnishes hoping to give the works more depth. I am grateful to have been selected by saatchiart.com as one of the 21 artists to collect in 2021 promotion, and thank you Hardedger for this feature.
Thank you very much, Brian.
