Hi Joost, who are you?
I’m a (graphic) artist from Holland. I studied and worked in Amsterdam and at the moment I’m a full time artist. In my studio in Assendelft (Zaanstad) I create as if my life depends on it. It’s my oxygen.
What happens in your studio?
I draw and design. Never mind if people call it art or not. I do my thing. I don´t know why, I just have to do it. It’s nice to surprise yourself and to see what will appear during the creation process.
Do you have a certain style?
I really tried it but I can’t work in just one or a few styles. There’s much too much to explore. New styles just appear, often accidentally. I work quite randomly and combine styles, images and what more I find. It keeps coming and coming. Abstract works are really fun to make. I initially made them for myself and didn’t expect anyone to like it, but I was wrong. It´s great to see this work gets hundreds of likes at Insta @hardedger.
Did you achieve your goals?
I wanted to be a full time artist without being poor. I also wanted to be independent and make whatever I want and like. That’s what I achieved too. So, how happy can a man be? 🙂
Your guiding principle
Some people see things, others appear to be blind. I try to help them a bit.
